you don’t HAVE to do anything you don’t want to. it’s your wedding day…

Do whatever you want. its YOUR day…you want to feel and look absolutely gorgeous. Wearing white is not necessary, you can wear whatever makes you look gorgeous and stand out in the crowd. (:

PS: I come from a culture where you HAVE to wear red on your wedding day…things are slowly changing and we’re seeing a lot of other colors lately, and all of them look absolutely gorgeous because the one wearing them is enjoying the color.

    I didn’t want any white in my wedding at all…it was all off-white (and my other colors)…I didn’t have a kid, but I wasn’t a virgin either…

You may wear any color you desire, and you may wear something other than a long dress (a short dress, pants, shorts, etc)…it’s all 100% up to you…

Off white sure, pink ehh maybe depends what it looks like. I personally would love to have a black wedding dress when I get married. Some black dresses are beautiful. But yeah I don’t think you should have to wear a white one. Plus its your wedding wear whatever you want :)

Of course you’re aloud! it’s your day and white is just the tradition because it supposed to represent “purity”.

and also many years ago the women wore white to keep cooler in the summer air because deoderant didn’t exsist, aparantly that’s why so many women wed on Sunday’s (old fashioned bath days) and carried flowers (to hide b.o)

    ^but that’s just what I heard.

seriously though you could wear jeans and a tshirt to your wedding if you wanted to :)

It is more traditional to wear white. They have a lot of different shades of “white” like white, off white, ivory. They have dresses that are white but also have like other colors in it or a sash with a different color. You could wear any color dress you want if that is what you want. It is your day. But it is tradition to wear white if that is what your going for, but like you said your not. Good luck :)

WHITE dresses are only a tradition. You can do whatever you want to do because it is YOUR day. BUT of course when you do marry, they’ll be those jealous others who will say something about not wearing a white dress…but dont worry its YOUR DAY!

  8. CAT says:

you can find a lot of dresses in off white, you don’t have to wear white, honestly some women looked washed out in white, and look better in off white.

  9. Bride to be says:

Soft pink or off-white are good choices for your wedding. For some reason, when it’s used on a wedding dress, pink-a really pale kind of a ballet inspired pink-is called “blush”. Here’s one in blush:

White dresses come in a variety of shades so you would be able to find an off-white dress if that’s what you wanted.

Most dresses come in white, but they also come in ivory (which is an off white). If you want to do a soft pink you can.

  15. Martha J says:

My dress was ivory ( off white ). I had 2 kids, plus I do not look good in white. It is your wedding day you do what you want to do.

P.S. My kids walked me down the aisle instead of my father and he was thrilled with it.

  18. Perse says:

Wear whatever colour you want, or even a rainbow dress.

  19. truefirstedition says:

Nope, not at all. There is no “wedding police” that will arrest you for not wearing white/ivory. It’s the most common choice for American brides, but there’s definitely no rule that you must wear it.

A good friend of mine is getting married in July and is wearing a black evening gown!
